Nigerian forward Gift Emmanuel Orban, who plays for Olympique Lyonnais, expressed relief after scoring his first league goal for the club, having joined them four months ago from Belgian side KAA Gent, where he scored 32 goals in 52 games.
The 21-year-old striker's transition to the French Ligue 1 has been challenging, as he has struggled to match the prolific scoring form he displayed in Norway and Belgium.
While his performance in the League Cup has been satisfactory, with two goals in three Coupe de la Ligue games, Lyon has reached the cup final, where they will face Paris Saint-Germain led by Kylian Mbappe.
In a recent match against F.C. Nantes at the Stade de la Beaujoire in Louis Fonteneau, Lyon fell behind early in the first half but managed to stage a comeback, with second-half goals from former Arsenal player Alexandre Lacazette and Orban's former Gent teammate, Malick Fofana.
Orban came on as a substitute for Lacazette in the 86th minute and scored Lyon's third goal in added time, showcasing composure as he received a pass from Mama Baldé and calmly slotted the ball into the bottom corner of Alban Lafont's goal.
Currently occupying the 10th position in the Ligue 1 table, Lyon trails five points behind the UEFA Europa Conference League qualification spots.
