Gianni Infantino Pays Tribute to Late Nigerian Coach Ismaila Mabo

Ismaila Mabo, a former coach of the Nigeria Super Falcons who passed away last week, was hailed by FIFA President Gianni Infantino as one of the best coaches of his generation.
After a protracted illness, Mabo, the most accomplished women's football coach in Africa, passed away at the age of 80.
Infantino, who was recently elected FIFA president for a second term, wrote a letter of condolences to the NFF in which he praised the former defender.
In Infantino words: “Words seem inadequate to express the sadness we feel for this loss”.
"Considered as one of the best coaches of his generation, inspiration to younger generations of coaches, having contributed to the growth of women's football in the country and around the world, his legacy and achievements, and in particular his personality, his loyalty and his human qualities will not be forgotten and he will be truly missed."
Some of the best players to emerge from the women's game in Africa include Mercy Akide, Florence Omagbemi, Perpetua Nkwocha, Nkiru Okosieme, Patience Avre, and others. Mabo was one of the early supporters of women's football in Africa and found, coached, and mentored many of these players.
