Getafe Coach apologizes for misattributing Greenwood's arrival to Bellingham

Getafe coach Jose Bordalas has issued an apology for his previous remarks claiming that Jude Bellingham recommended Mason Greenwood to play in LaLiga. Bordalas retracted his earlier statement, clarifying the situation on Sunday.
Bordalas stated, "I wanted to clear up a misunderstanding that there has been. I said that Mason Greenwood came to Getafe because he had spoken to Bellingham. They have clarified to me that it was not like that. I apologize. It [Greenwood's signing] was because of our interest. He was offered to us, and we were very interested."
He emphasized that there was no malicious intent behind his earlier comments.
Earlier this summer, Jude Bellingham completed a permanent transfer to Real Madrid from Borussia Dortmund. Meanwhile, Mason Greenwood and Manchester United mutually agreed to part ways after a six-month investigation into his conduct. A criminal case against Greenwood related to allegations of attempted rape and assault was discontinued in February.
Greenwood made his debut for Getafe in a 3-2 win over Osasuna on Sunday, entering the match as a substitute in the 77th minute. This marked his first competitive game since January 2022. After the match, Greenwood expressed his happiness, stating, "Happy to make my Getafe debut finishing with 3 points."
Bordalas commented on Greenwood's performance, saying, "We were pleasantly surprised. He has helped the team, but we work with him with patience and calmness. He hasn't played for many months, and I suppose it must have been a special day for him. It is a satisfaction to feel like a footballer, and we have seen the response of the fans, his teammates, and himself."
He also acknowledged that Greenwood needs time to adapt and urged patience. Greenwood's presence is expected to have a positive impact on Getafe and Spanish football.
