Russian-born Nigerian forward German Onugkha has earned major recognition for his stellar displays throughout March 2025, as he was officially named the Danish Superliga Player of the Month by Divisionsforeningen, according to Vejle Boldklub's official website.
Although born in Russia and eligible to represent the country, Onugkha has pledged his international allegiance to Nigeria, the three-time African champions.
The striker, currently on loan at Vejle Boldklub from FC Copenhagen, had an exceptional run of form in March, finding the net in four consecutive matches and helping his team secure vital points during a crucial period of the season.
He scored consolation goals in defeats to Viborg FF and Nordsjaelland, grabbed a brace in a dramatic 3-2 encounter against Aarhus GF, and sealed a win with a decisive goal against Lyngby Boldklub.
His impressive six-match scoring run came to an end during a goalless outing against Aalborg BK, a game witnessed by former Nigeria international and Newcastle United staff member Shola Ameobi, who was in attendance at Vejle Stadium.
Onugkha edged out notable contenders including Serginho of Viborg FF and Victor Froholdt of FC Copenhagen to clinch the prestigious Player of the Month accolade.
In addition to this award, Onugkha was selected in both the Team of the Round for matchday 23 and the Superliga Team of the Month for March, after notching eight goals and an assist during his goal-scoring streak.
