Chelsea has selected the top seven goals scored by its players in October, and Tyrique George, a Flying Eagles-eligible winger, is a contender for the Goal of the Month award. The young England international of Nigerian heritage earned his nomination for his striking goal against Tottenham Hotspur in the U18 Premier League match on October 28.
In that game, after assisting in setting up the opening goal by Somto Boniface, George showcased his scoring prowess in the 69th minute by expertly placing the ball into the top corner from just outside the penalty area, bringing Chelsea ahead 3-2.
Among the other five competitors for Chelsea's Goal of the Month are standout players like Lauren James, Mykhailo Mudryk, who is double-nominated for his goals against Fulham and Arsenal, as well as Nicolas Jackson, Erin Cuthbert, and Sjoeke Nusken.
George has been a prominent figure for Chelsea's youth teams in the 2023-2024 season, netting four goals in five games in the U18 Premier League and making appearances off the bench for the development squad in the Premier League 2.
The exciting winger has also found the back of the net four times in the Premier League International Cup and Premier League Cup, bringing his total for the season to eight goals in all competitions.
While George is eligible to represent England in the 2023 FIFA U17 World Cup, manager Ryan Garry has opted not to include him and Somto Boniface in the 21-man squad announced on Thursday.
