Spain midfielder Gavi made a significant step in his recovery by returning to training with Barcelona on Thursday, nearly ten months after undergoing surgery for a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL). Gavi’s injury, sustained during Spain's Euro 2024 qualifying match against Georgia last November, kept him out of action for the remainder of the season and also sidelined him during Spain's successful Euro 2024 campaign.
Barcelona shared a video on social media showing the 20-year-old back with the squad, though he is not expected to feature in the upcoming match. The team’s next fixture is an away game against Girona on Sunday. While Gavi's return is a positive development, he remains some way off making his competitive comeback.
Under new manager Hansi Flick, Barcelona has enjoyed a strong start to the season, winning all four of their opening matches. This perfect record places them at the top of the LaLiga standings, four points clear of defending champions Real Madrid.
