Transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano has reported that Galatasaray has reached a loan agreement with Napoli for Victor Osimhen, the Super Eagles' star striker, for the remainder of the season. The Turkish champions have committed to covering Osimhen's full salary, which is estimated between €9 million and €10 million. They are now preparing to finalize the details with the striker regarding his move to the club.
Galatasaray is not looking to include an obligation to buy in the loan agreement, meaning they are only interested in having Osimhen for this season. This approach reflects their current stance on the deal, focusing solely on a temporary arrangement.
The club plans to use Osimhen in a partnership with Argentine forward Mauro Icardi, who is presently injured. Galatasaray aims to defend their Süper Lig title and advance further in the UEFA Europa League, making Osimhen's potential contributions crucial for their season objectives.
With the Turkish transfer window remaining open until September 13, Galatasaray has time to negotiate further with Napoli. This extension provides a window for finalizing the move for the reigning African Men’s Player of the Year.
Osimhen’s potential transfer to Chelsea fell through due to the Premier League club’s inability to meet his financial demands before the window closed. Additionally, a move to the Saudi Pro-League did not come to fruition, leaving him in limbo.
Currently, Osimhen has been sidelined from Napoli’s squad. If he does not secure a transfer, he might face several months without playing, which could impact his match fitness and form.
The outcome of this loan deal could also influence Osimhen’s participation in the Super Eagles' qualification matches for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. How this situation unfolds may affect his availability and readiness for these crucial games.
