Fumbling Enyimba Int'l FC welcomes Kwara United to Aba
Posted : 05 November 2023
After a challenging campaign in the 2023/2024 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), with nine league titles under their belt, Enyimba International FC hopes to return to winning ways as they welcome Kwara United FC to Aba for the Match Day 7 fixtures.
The People's Elephant's 2023 campaign has been marred by seemingly poor results in both domestic league and continental assignments.
The team, under the guidance of Finidi George, was eliminated from the prestigious CAF Champions League by Al Ahli Benghazi of Libya.
Enyimba, a two-time CAF Champions League winner, played to a 0-0 draw against the Libyan team at the Enyimba International Stadium in Aba but lost to Al-Ahli by a 4-3 lead in the first leg.
Despite having ample time to redeem themselves in the inaugural African Football League, the Peoples Elephant once again failed to impress as they were eliminated over two legs by Wydad FC of Morocco.
On the domestic front, the Aba Warlords have also displayed uninspiring performances, with the team currently holding a disappointing 19th position, even though they have three outstanding matches.
So far, the team has earned four points from four matches, winning one, losing one, and drawing one match.
The match against the Harmony Boys could be a defining moment for Enyimba International FC to reassert their authority as one of Nigeria's most successful clubs.
On the other hand, Kwara United will need to muster extra strength to survive the potential challenges in Aba, as the wounded Peoples Elephant may give their all to win the match.
Head-to-Head:
In the past 14 matches between both clubs, Enyimba International FC has won a record eight times and drawn thrice, while the Harmony Boys have won three times.
Prediction:
It is expected to be a clear victory for Enyimba International FC.
