Fulham enters race for Nigerian scorer Gift Orban alongside Tottenham
Posted : 22 August 2023
Fulham has entered the race to sign Nigerian striker Gift Orban, alongside Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur and clubs in the French Ligue 1, according to Antwerp-based newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws.
Fulham is considering Orban as one of three potential replacements for Aleksandar Mitrović, who recently left for Al Hilal in the Saudi Pro League for a record transfer fee.
Whether Fulham will make a bid for Orban's services is yet to be determined.
With the significant transfer fee received for Mitrović and the possible sale of Tosin Adarabioyo, Fulham appears to have the financial means to strengthen the squad before the transfer window closes.
On the other hand, Tottenham Hotspur is in talks with Orban's representatives regarding his potential transfer from Gent.
However, as of now, no official bid has been made by Tottenham, and personal terms have not been discussed.
Orban, a 21-year-old striker, has showcased remarkable goal-scoring prowess in 2023, scoring 26 goals in 28 appearances since joining Gent from Stabæk Fotball in the Norwegian league.
He remains under contract with Gent until June 2027 and is valued around 30 million euros by the Belgian Pro League club.
