Fulham has successfully reached an agreement with Ajax Amsterdam for the transfer of Super Eagles left-back, Calvin Bassey.
The deal is reported to be worth 21 million euros (equivalent to approximately N18.1 billion in Nigerian currency), along with an additional sell-on fee to be paid to the Dutch giants.
However, the completion of the transfer is still contingent upon Bassey agreeing to personal terms with Fulham and successfully passing his medical assessment.
Calvin Bassey's stint at Ajax last season did not meet expectations, facing challenges under the management of Alfred Schreuder and Johnny Heitinga. Despite the struggles, the 23-year-old defender managed to appear in 39 matches across various competitions and contributed to six goals.
If Bassey finalizes his move to Craven Cottage, he will face competition for a place in the starting lineup from players like Tim Ream, Issa Diop, and Tosin Adarabioyo, an English-born defender of Nigerian descent.
Bassey's versatility to play both as a center-back and left-back adds valuable options to Fulham's squad as they aim to improve upon their 10th-place finish in the previous Premier League season.
The London-based club seeks to bolster their performance in the upcoming campaign and sees Bassey as a potential asset in their quest for success.
