Polish Ekstraklasa club Śląsk Wrocław has officially confirmed the signing of Sylvester Jasper, a product of the Fulham academy, through a statement on their website. The forward, who has represented both England and Bulgaria at youth levels, is eligible to play for the Super Eagles due to his Nigerian heritage from his father.
Jasper’s transfer to Śląsk Wrocław comes after he mutually terminated his contract with Portuguese club Portimonense in August 2024, making the move a free transfer. The 23-year-old has signed a contract that will keep him at the club until the end of June 2026, with an option for an additional year.
During his tenure at Fulham, Jasper made three appearances for the senior team and had loan spells at Colchester United, Hibernian, and Bristol Rovers, where he gained valuable experience. Last season, he contributed two goals and two assists in 24 matches in the Portuguese Primeira Liga, but chose to leave Portimonense following their relegation to the second tier, Liga Portugal 2.
Śląsk Wrocław currently sits at the bottom of the Polish top flight and has targeted the free agent market to strengthen their squad. The club hopes that Jasper’s addition will provide a much-needed boost as they seek to improve their standing.
In his first comments after joining Śląsk Wrocław, Jasper expressed his excitement about the new challenge. He acknowledged the differences between the Polish and Portuguese leagues and emphasized his eagerness to contribute to his new team. "I am very happy to join the Śląsk Wrocław team," he stated.
Jasper further mentioned his anticipation for the upcoming matches at Tarczyński Arena Wrocław, saying, "I know that the team has few points now, but I believe that we will quickly start winning and climbing the table." His confidence in the team's potential reflects his positive outlook on the season ahead.
For the remainder of the 2024-2025 season, Jasper will wear the number 23 jersey as he begins this new chapter in his career with Śląsk Wrocław.
