In Jakarta, Joan Tincres played a pivotal role in securing top spot for France in Group E with a convincing 3-0 triumph over the USA. France, having won all three matches in the group stage, is now set to face Senegal in the last 16, while the USA, finishing as runners-up, will encounter European champions Germany.
The first half unfolded as an intense battle, seemingly heading towards a goalless draw until France orchestrated a moment of brilliance in stoppage time. Mohamed-Amine Bouchenna executed a remarkable run down the left flank, delivering a precise low cross that Tincres skillfully powered into the net, giving Les Bleuets the lead.
Early in the second half, the USA had a golden opportunity to level the score. Cruz Medina found himself in ample space in the penalty area, but his powerful first-time shot was expertly denied by France goalkeeper Paul Argney. Despite the Americans' persistent efforts to secure an equalizer, France, yet to concede a goal in the tournament, proved to be a formidable defensive force.
France further solidified their dominance, securing maximum points as Tincres clinically netted his second goal of the night, followed by Bastien Meupiyou's header for the third. In the closing moments, USA's woes deepened as Tyler Hall received a red card for a last-man foul, rendering him ineligible for the Round of 16 clash against Germany, along with Paulo Rudisill and Noahkai Banks due to an accumulation of yellow cards.
