Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta had a close look at four promising Nigerian teenagers during Tuesday's training session ahead of their upcoming London derby against West Ham United at the Emirates Stadium.
The Gunners released training photos on their official website, showing that 17-year-old midfielder Ethan Nwaneri, 16-year-old left-back Josh Ogunnaike, 18-year-old right-back Josh Nichols, and 17-year-old forward Andre Harriman-Annous participated in the session.
Also spotted was Nathan Butler-Oyedeji, aged 22, who could potentially be in contention for a place in the squad for the match against the Hammers.
Ogunnaike and Nichols have been promoted to first-team training, partly due to Japanese defender Takehiro Tomiyasu's long-term injury.
Harriman-Annous, alongside Butler-Oyedeji, has seen an increase in his involvement with the senior squad, following the season-ending injuries to Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz, as well as the ongoing recovery of Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli from hamstring issues.
While Nwaneri, Butler-Oyedeji, and Nichols have already received call-ups for Premier League matches and even made appearances for the first team, Ogunnaike and Harriman-Annous are yet to be included in a first-team matchday squad.
Currently sitting second in the Premier League with 53 points, Arsenal trails leaders Liverpool by seven points. If Liverpool secures a win against Aston Villa on Wednesday, they will extend their lead to 10 points.
