Former Super Falcons star, Desire Oparanozie, has backed the team to shine at the Paris 2024 Olympics, even though they are drawn in a tough-looking first-round group.
The Super Falcons are drawn against world champions Spain, Japan, and Brazil in Group C.
They open their campaign on July 25 against Brazil.
“It’s a tough group; Spain are world champions, Japan were previous world champions, and Brazil are a household name in the game,” Oparanozie said.
“But I believe in the team; we will do well at the Olympics. The girls will show what they are made of; they will make themselves proud.”
Oparanozie said she is delighted that the Super Falcons have finally qualified for the Olympics after a long wait.
“I am excited for the Super Falcons; it’s been a long time since we played at the Olympics,” she said.
“The Olympics is the only major tournament I did not play in before I retired.”
