Former Bendel Insurance coach, Monday Odigie, is reportedly in line to fill the vacant head coach position at Akwa United FC, following the resignation of Mohammed Babaganaru. Babaganaru parted ways with the Promise Keepers earlier this month after a series of uninspiring results.
Reports indicate that Odigie has traveled to Uyo and held discussions with the management of Akwa United, who are exploring their options for a replacement. The club, under pressure to make a sound decision after recent managerial appointments, is said to be open-minded about their choice.
Although Akwa United had also held talks with former coach Kennedy Boboye earlier in the week, Odigie has emerged as a strong candidate. Having left his role at Bendel Insurance in November, Odigie is seen as a forward-thinking option who could rejuvenate the former NPFL champions.
It’s now a critical decision-making period for Akwa United, with Chairman Elder Paul Bassey at the helm as the club seeks to stabilize and rebuild its fortunes.
