The 2023/2024 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) announced on Tuesday the signing of Niger Tornadoes wonderkid Clinton Jephter Degol in preparation for the upcoming season's challenge.
Degol, a former Niger Tornadoes winger, expressed his delight at being "proud" to pen a deal with Nigeria's champions, Rangers International, during his unveiling.
The winger completed a season-long move to the eight-time NPFL winners after signing the contract documents at the Coal City Flying Antelopes Corporate Head Office, located at 23 Lugard Avenue, Abakaliki Road, Enugu.
The youth prodigy is thus in line for a place in Manager Fidelis Ilechukwu's squad for the 2024/2025 Total Energie/CAF Champions League, as well as the domestic NPFL and President Federation Cup campaigns.
Degol was in no mood to hide his excitement after signing the one-year contract papers in the presence of Rangers officials.
"First, I want to thank God for making it possible for me to be here," Degol said. "Secondly, I feel so happy and good to join a great club like Rangers, who are the reigning league champions. I feel proud to be part of this club.
"I know the signing is coming late, but I am grateful it happened due to pressures from a couple of clubs for my services. It was a hard decision for me, but I believe Rangers is the right choice and the right place for me, and I feel happy and good to be here."
Jephter was among the top performers for Niger Tornadoes in the concluded season.
The Bayelsa State-born winger is the 10th addition the Coal City Flying Antelopes have made in the transfer window, as Fidelis Ilechukwu continues to bolster the team for a successful title defense and fruitful continental challenge in the coming season.
Rangers will kick off their 2024/2025 campaign on August 16, 17, or 18 when they travel to U.S. Zilimadjou of Comoros for the first leg of the CAF Champions League preliminary round match.
