Fiorentina Signs David De Gea on One-Year Deal

Fiorentina announced the signing of David De Gea on Friday, adding the former Spain and Manchester United goalkeeper to their squad. De Gea, who has been without a club for the past year, joins the Serie A side on a one-year contract with an option for an additional year. The 33-year-old began his career at Atletico Madrid, where he won the Europa League and UEFA Super Cup, before spending 12 seasons at Manchester United.

 

During his time with Manchester United, De Gea collected a significant trophy haul, including one Premier League title, one FA Cup, two League Cups, and one Europa League. His tenure with the club ended in July 2023 when his contract expired, marking the conclusion of a highly successful period with the Red Devils.

 

De Gea, who earned the last of his 45 caps for Spain in 2020, joins a Fiorentina team that finished eighth in Serie A last season and has been a runner-up in the last two Conference League finals. His arrival is expected to bolster the squad as they aim for a stronger performance this season.
