Fiorentina Sign Nicolo Fagioli on Loan from Juventus

Fiorentina have secured the services of Italian midfielder Nicolo Fagioli on loan from Juventus, the Serie A club announced on Tuesday. The move offers Fagioli a fresh opportunity for regular playing time after struggling to break into Juventus' first team under manager Thiago Motta.

 

The 23-year-old, a product of Juventus' academy, has seen limited action this season, featuring for just 10 minutes across the last five league matches. His playing time was further affected by a seven-month suspension last season for violating betting regulations. Despite this setback, he returned in time to earn a spot in Italy’s Euro 2024 squad and has accumulated seven international caps.

 

Fiorentina, currently sixth in the Serie A standings, are set to host Inter Milan on Thursday. However, Fagioli will be unavailable for the match, which is a continuation of December’s abandoned fixture following the on-field collapse of midfielder Edoardo Bove in the 17th minute.

 

The midfielder is expected to make his debut in Fiorentina’s next fixture against Inter Milan on Monday at the San Siro. That match will provide him with an early challenge as he faces the defending Serie A champions in what could be a crucial test for his return to regular club football.
