FIFA Club World Cup 2025: A New Era for Global Club Football

The FIFA Club World Cup 2025™ will debut in the summer of 2025, marking the first edition of FIFA's new prime club competition. This inaugural tournament will take place from June 15 to July 13, 2025, in the United States, with 32 teams from six global football confederations: AFC, CAF, Concacaf, CONMEBOL, OFC, and UEFA. These teams will compete for the title, with the United States serving as the host nation and various iconic stadiums, including MetLife Stadium and Hard Rock Stadium, set to stage the matches.

 

As of now, 31 of the 32 spots are filled, with teams such as Real Madrid, Manchester City, Al Hilal, and Palmeiras already qualified. The final spot will be determined after the 2024 CONMEBOL Libertadores, with Atletico Mineiro and Botafogo competing for it. The tournament will see teams qualify via their respective champions' pathways, as well as through ranking pathways, depending on their recent performances in continental competitions. This tournament promises to unite the best club sides from across the globe for a truly international competition.

 

The competition will be held across 12 stadiums in the U.S., including notable venues such as Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta and the Rose Bowl in Los Angeles. The tournament’s format and host cities highlight FIFA's ambition to enhance the global club football landscape. The opening match will be played at Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium, and the final will take place at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, where the first-ever FIFA Club World Cup trophy will be awarded.

 

FIFA has also unveiled a new, prestigious trophy for the tournament, designed by Tiffany & Co. This trophy will be awarded to the champion of the inaugural FIFA Club World Cup, adding to the significance of this highly anticipated event. The 2025 edition will bring together some of the greatest footballing talent in the world, setting the stage for a new era of club football competition on the global stage.
