FC Robo Queens of Lagos emerged as winners of the Lagos State FA Cup 2024 on Sunday after a resounding 4-1 victory over Dannaz Ladies FC.
FC Robo Queens scored two goals in the first half, with Ijamilosa Folasade finding the net twice, while Solati Farimah scored the lone goal for Dannaz Ladies.
The thrilling match showcased the dominance of the defending champions, Robo Queens, who secured their 14th title.
Robo Queens maintained their control throughout the match, putting on a dominant performance to secure the trophy with a 4-1 victory.
Folashade Ijamilusi, who scored two goals for FC Robo Queens, attributed their success to hard work, stating, “We worked hard for this competition; it is our 14th title, and we wanted to prove to the rest of Lagos that we are truly the Land Ladies of Lagos.”
Head Coach Emmanuel Osahon expressed his pride in the team's achievement, saying, “We won this cup through hard work, and I commend my players for their outstanding performance in lifting the trophy once again to demonstrate our clear dominance in Lagos.”
Robo Queens received a prize of N500,000 for winning the trophy.
In another match, Ikorodu City FC clinched the title of back-to-back champions of the Lagos FA Cup in the male category by defeating city rivals, Inter FC of Lagos, 2-0, securing the trophy for another year.
Ikorodu FC also earned a prize of N500,000 for their victory in the 2023/2024 football season.
Harrison Uzondu scored the first goal for Ikorodu FC in the 27th minute with a header from a corner kick, showcasing their dominance in the first half. They secured their second goal in the second half through a penalty, calmly converted by Oyedokun Oluwatosin in the 59th minute.
Harrison Uzondu expressed his joy at the victory, dedicating the win to his mother and the club's fans, stating, “We performed well to win the match. Last season, I was not fit to play, so I was not active, but this season, I was fit and very active in the final game. I am really happy, and I dedicate this victory to my dear mother and all the fans of Ikorodu FC.”
