Kogi Central FC was reduced to 10 men in the 72nd minute after Onumoko Mohammed was shown a red card for a ruthless tackle on an opponent. All appeals for the referee to overturn his decision were dismissed.
FC Bako took the lead with a superb finish after a goalmouth scramble in Kogi Central FC’s penalty area. However, Kogi Central FC responded immediately and equalized three minutes later. The game became more intense as both sides searched for the winning goal to avoid a penalty shootout, often referred to as a game of luck.
The decisive goal came in the 76th minute from FC Bako. All efforts by the defending champions to equalize for the second time were met with stiff resistance from FC Bako’s backline.
Daniel Orakpo stood rock solid in defense, ensuring they did not relinquish their lead. Abdul Sebogo Kabir’s five-star performance also proved crucial in securing the victory for the new champions.

Chairman of the Kogi State Football Association, Mallam Hassan Wada, who watched the match alongside other board members and dignitaries, including Kogi United FC Chairman Honourable Abdulmalik Isah, described the encounter as "very exciting and explosive."
