Fabio Carvalho has completed his move to Brentford from Liverpool, signing a five-year contract with the London club, as announced on Monday. While the exact transfer fee was not disclosed, British media reports suggest that Carvalho will cost Brentford £22.5 million initially, with an additional £5 million possible in add-ons. Liverpool, who signed Carvalho from Fulham for £5 million two years ago, will also receive a 17.5 percent sell-on fee.
The contract with Brentford includes an option for an additional one-year extension. Brentford's manager, Thomas Frank, praised Carvalho’s versatility and skill, noting that he can play in various attacking positions, including as a number 10 or from the left flank. Frank highlighted Carvalho’s strong offensive abilities, including dribbling, passing, and chance creation, and expressed confidence that his unique qualities will add a new dimension to the squad.
Carvalho, who spent the previous season on loan at RB Leipzig and Hull City, where he netted nine goals in 20 appearances, brings valuable experience to Brentford. The club, which finished comfortably above the relegation zone last season, will start their new Premier League campaign with a home match against Crystal Palace on Sunday.
