2023/2024 NWFL Match Day 12: Expect goals against Confluence Queens - Heartland Queens' forward, Anyantosho talks tough

Posted : 01 April 2024

Heartland Queens' right winger, Yetunde Anyantosho, has assured that her team will deliver another thrilling performance against Confluence Queens.

The Owerri-based team will be guests of the Confluence City side in Wednesday's NWFL Premiership matchday 12 game at their adopted home, the University Stadium in Iyamho, Auchi, Edo state.

Anyantosho said her teammates, especially the attackers, are well-prepared to showcase their skills this time, unlike the goalless draw in their first-ever top-flight meeting on Wednesday, December 06, 2023, at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri.

"I believe Wednesday's match will be different from the first fixture that ended goalless here in Owerri.

"Our coaches are working hard on us, especially the attackers, and we are fully committed to the training programs.

"In the last match against Abia Angels, we scored four goals from the attacking department, with three attackers scoring all four goals.

"I think we will perform even better in the attacking department on Wednesday against Confluence Queens. I believe we will win the game.

"Our recent training has focused more on goal-scoring, and with the guidance of our coaches, I will do my best as one of the attackers. I believe God will reward my efforts with goals," said the Nigerian forward.

The quick-footed player, confident in her team's top position on the table, emphasized the importance of hard work and determination.

"I feel great and not surprised by our top position, given the quality of our coaches and training sessions. We work hard, and our coaches always emphasize 'no pain, no gain'. With hard work and prayer, God has rewarded our efforts with success, so I am not surprised we are at the top.

"Although we are achieving good results, we remain humble and focused. We are still pushing harder until we reach our goals.

"Yes, I am confident we will make it to the Super Six, despite tough competition from other teams in the group. We are determined to secure the ticket. Our focus now is to earn all the points in the remaining matches and secure our spot in the Super Six," said the determined attacker.

Anyantosho acknowledged the hosts' strong goalkeeper, Silva Echefu, but expressed confidence in her team's ability to overcome the challenge.

"All I know about the team is that they have a good goalkeeper, but I believe our attackers are ready to show our true colors and secure the win on Wednesday," enthused the skilled finisher, who joined Heartland Queens in the second half of the season.

Heartland Queens currently lead Group A with 21 points, one point ahead of their closest rivals, Nasarawa Amazons.
