In the opening match, Adama City took an early lead when Abdisa Jemal found the net in the sixth minute. However, Hembercho swiftly responded with Befikadu Asresehegn equalizing just six minutes later. As the first half concluded, the score remained level at 1-1, with Hembercho showing promise as the newcomers in the league.
Hembericho came into the second half with a burst of energy, and their efforts were rewarded with a second goal, courtesy of Dagim Bekele, in the 61st minute. Adama City, taken aback by this turn of events, regrouped and began mounting a comeback.
They probed for a quarter of an hour, and it was their emerging star, Yosef Tarekegn, who eventually found the equalizer. Tarekegn had made a name for himself as the standout player in the BetKing Ethiopia Premier League last season, and it was a delight to see him back among the goals. The match ultimately ended in an exhilarating 2-2 draw.
In another significant match, Ethiopia Coffee, who had been strong contenders this season with two initial wins, faced Bahir Dar City, the runner-up from the previous season. The game remained tightly contested for the first 45 minutes, with no goals scored. However, it sprang to life during stoppage time.
Chala Teshita opened the scoring for Ethiopia Coffee in the first minute of added time, but Bahir Dar promptly responded, equalizing through Cherinet Gugsa, bringing the halftime score to 1-1. Ethiopia Coffee continued their aggressive play in the second half, taking the lead in the 47th minute with a goal by Biruk Beyene. Nonetheless, Bahir Dar fought back, and Fitsum Tilahun's strike in the 67th minute secured a 2-2 draw for his team.
