Ex-Super Eagles' sons selected for England U16 match squad
Posted : 23 August 2023
Two sons of former Super Eagles players featured in the England U16 matchday squad as the team began the 2023-2024 season with a 3-1 loss against Italy in an international friendly held at Coverciano on Tuesday.
Wolverhampton Wanderers' Wes Okoduwa was included in the starting lineup, while Chelsea's Landon Emenalo observed the game from the bench.
Landon's father, Michael Emenalo, who represented the Super Eagles at the 1994 World Cup and was formerly technical director of Chelsea, oversaw notable player signings during his time at the club.
Wes, a right-back, is the son of former Super Eagles striker Emmanuel Okoduwa, and Wes himself has played for Wolves U18s this season.
Landon, yet to debut for Chelsea's U18 team, is anticipated to potentially make his England U16 debut in their upcoming friendly against Italy.
