Ex-Oranje captain speaks on Bassey's Ajax struggles

Giovanni van Bronckhorst, a former Netherlands international and ex-Rangers manager, has further discussed Super Eagles left-back Calvin Bassey's short time at Ajax Amsterdam. 

Van Bronckhorst initially noted that Bassey struggled in Eredivisie due to lack of support from Ajax. Bassey, who transferred to Ajax from Rangers for £22 million after their Europa League run, couldn't settle there and was later sold to Fulham. 

Van Bronckhorst defended his former player again, asserting that Bassey was not provided the right environment to thrive in Ajax and that he was more suited for a strong, defensive style as showcased during his time with Rangers. 

He also mentioned that Bassey's potential was not fully utilized at Ajax, and he hopes Bassey will perform better in his upcoming appearances for Fulham, such as their match against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.
