Posted : 06 July 2023
Turkish Süper Lig club, Hatayspor Kulubu, has secured the services of Oluwafisayo Faruq Dele-Bashiru, a talented German-born Nigerian midfielder, from English League One side Sheffield Wednesday.

Dele-Bashiru had been a part of Sheffield Wednesday since 2020, amassing an impressive 88 appearances and contributing 8 goals during his time at the club.

Notably, he played a crucial role in their promotion to the English Championship last season, displaying his potential as a midfield anchor and showcasing his exceptional passing abilities.

The midfielder's outstanding performances did not go unnoticed, as he received accolades such as Sheffield Wednesday's Player of the Month in October 2021 and the EFL Cup Player of the Second Round in September 2022.

Born in Germany to Nigerian parents, Dele-Bashiru relocated to England at a young age. His football journey commenced with the Manchester City youth team at the tender age of 8, before making the move to Sheffield Wednesday in the summer of 2020.

Hatayspor Kulubu officially announced the impending signing of Dele-Bashiru on their Instagram page, revealing that he successfully underwent medical checks at Fulya Hospital.

While the talented midfielder has yet to represent either Germany or England at any level, he aspires to have the opportunity to play for the Nigerian national team, the Super Eagles.

Notably, Dele-Bashiru has a brother named Tom Dele-Bashiru, who is also a footballer and currently plays for Watford in the English Championship.

With his move to Hatayspor, Dele-Bashiru embarks on a new chapter in his career, aiming to make a significant impact in the Turkish Süper Lig while nurturing his aspirations to represent his ancestral nation on the international stage.
