Bayer Leverkusen's manager Xabi Alonso and the club's sporting director Simon Rolfes have both praised Nigerian striker Victor Boniface for his impressive performance, particularly his brace against Borussia Mönchengladbach in a 3-0 win.
Boniface, who joined Bayer Leverkusen from Royale Union Saint-Gilloise for €20 million after being the joint-top scorer in the 2022/2023 UEFA Europa League alongside Manchester United's Marcus Rashford, has started his Leverkusen career strongly with three goals and one assist in three starts.
His impact was noted in his debut appearance, scoring in the DFB-Pokal first round, providing an assist on his Bundesliga debut, and securing a brace against Borussia Mönchengladbach.
Xabi Alonso praised Boniface's attributes on the pitch, describing him as a "real problem for opposition defences" due to his power, speed, deep runs, and team-focused mentality. Simon Rolfes also highlighted Boniface's commanding presence as a center forward with physicality, speed, and strong technique.
As Bayer Leverkusen faces SV Darmstadt in the Bundesliga, Xabi Alonso and Boniface aim to continue their winning streak and make a lasting impact on the league.
