Everton sign 19-year-old Youssef Chermiti from Sporting Lisbon

Everton is nearing an agreement to sign young striker Youssef Chermiti from Sporting Lisbon. The 19-year-old Portugal youth international had a breakthrough season at Sporting, scoring three league goals in 21 appearances across all competitions.
The potential deal comes as Everton prepares for their final pre-season friendly against Sporting at Goodison Park on Saturday. Manager Sean Dyche had previously mentioned the club's efforts in securing new signings for their squad.
Although Everton faced some disappointments in missing out on transfer targets earlier in the summer, they have already made significant additions with the signings of full-back Ashley Young from Aston Villa and winger Arnaut Danjuma on loan from Villarreal.
According to reports, discussions between Everton and Sporting involve a transfer fee of 15 million Euros (£12.9 million), with Sporting entitled to 10% of any future fee received for the player.
The need for a new striker was evident for Everton, especially after narrowly escaping relegation in the previous season with a 1-0 victory over Bournemouth on the final day. The team struggled to score goals, managing only 34 goals in 38 league games.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin, the team's primary striker, faced injury issues and scored just two goals throughout the campaign. Neal Maupay, another striker, has been struggling to find the net, with only one goal in his last 40 league and cup appearances.
Other clubs, including Wolves and Bournemouth, have shown interest in Chermiti, with scouts reportedly monitoring his performances for Sporting against Belgian side Genk during the summer. However, it appears that Everton is now the frontrunner to secure the young striker's services.
