Everton announced the signing of Marseille forward Iliman Ndiaye on Wednesday, securing him on a five-year deal for a reported fee of around £15 million. The 24-year-old becomes Everton's third signing of the transfer window, following winger Jack Harrison's season-long loan return from Leeds and the permanent acquisition of Aston Villa midfielder Tim Iroegbunam.
Ndiaye, who moved to Marseille from Sheffield United last year after scoring 14 goals in the Championship during their 2022/23 promotion-winning campaign, struggled to replicate that form in Ligue 1, netting just four times in 46 appearances for the French club.
The Senegal international expressed his enthusiasm to contribute to Everton's progress, stating, "I'm so excited. I want to come in and carry on from the team's progress last season. I feel like I'll be ready to help and I just want to give it my all to get this club higher up the table."
Everton struggled offensively last season, scoring only 40 goals in 38 Premier League matches. Manager Sean Dyche, whose team finished 15th in the league, emphasized the importance of Ndiaye's versatility and experience. "Iliman adds versatility to our attacking options and strengthens our forward line as we look to build on the progress we made as a team last season in terms of chances created. He is still young but has experience at European and international level, and we feel he will be a really positive addition to our squad," said Dyche.
Ndiaye's arrival aims to bolster Everton's attack as they seek to improve their league standing and overall goal-scoring capabilities in the upcoming season.
