Everton secures Danish duo: Rikke Madsen, Kathrine Kuhl join women's squad

Posted : 13 January 2024

Everton has bolstered its squad with the signings of Danish internationals Rikke Madsen and Kathrine Kuhl. Rikke Madsen, a 26-year-old forward, has joined from North Carolina Courage and committed until June 2025.

Meanwhile, 20-year-old midfielder Kathrine Kuhl arrives on loan from Arsenal, where she had worked with Everton manager Brian Sorensen at FC Nordsjaelland in Denmark before joining the Gunners last year.

Both players expressed excitement about joining Everton, with Madsen expressing eagerness to play in the league, and Kuhl looking forward to reuniting with Sorensen, who played a crucial role in her development.

Rikke Madsen shared her enthusiasm, stating, "I'm so happy to be here. I've been eager to get to this club and to play in this league." Kathrine Kuhl, reflecting on her previous collaboration with Sorensen, said, "Brian helped me a lot moving from youth football to going to the senior team. He really helped me develop when I was in my younger years. He has been a big part of my journey so far, and I'm looking forward to be working with him again."

Everton, currently positioned seventh in the Women's Super League, is set to face Aston Villa in the fourth round of the Women's FA Cup on Saturday.

These acquisitions aim to strengthen Everton's squad and contribute to their performance in upcoming competitions, with Madsen and Kuhl bringing their skills and international experience to the Women's Super League.
