Everton, Crystal Palace eye Nigerian forward for January transfer

Posted : 03 September 2024

Everton and Crystal Palace are reportedly setting their sights on Nigerian forward Elijah Adebayo for a potential transfer during the upcoming winter window. Both Premier League clubs are considering Adebayo as a significant addition to their squads, with Everton particularly focused on him as a possible replacement for Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

The Toffees have been evaluating Adebayo's potential to fill the void left by Calvert-Lewin, who has drawn interest from several top Premier League teams, including Newcastle United. With Calvert-Lewin's future at Everton uncertain, Adebayo is seen as a strong candidate to step into his role.

According to sources from ReluctantNicko via thehardtackle, Everton is preparing to make an approach to Luton Town, where Adebayo currently plays, once the transfer window reopens in January. The Merseyside club's interest reflects their intent to strengthen their forward line.

Similarly, Crystal Palace is also eyeing Adebayo as a potential signing. The Eagles are keen on bolstering their attacking options, especially with Jean-Philippe Mateta drawing significant attention during the summer transfer period.

Adebayo made the move to Luton Town from Walsall at the beginning of 2021 and has since become a crucial player for the team. His contributions were instrumental in Luton's promotion to the Premier League, and he has continued to show strong individual performances.

Last season, Adebayo scored 10 goals in 27 Premier League matches, showcasing his ability to perform at the highest level. Despite his efforts, Luton Town could not avoid relegation, which has made Adebayo's future a topic of interest among top-flight clubs.

Although Luton Town faced relegation, Adebayo’s standout performances have caught the eye of both Everton and Crystal Palace, who are eager to bring him back to the Premier League. His potential move is highly anticipated as both clubs look to enhance their attacking prowess.
