Everton 1-1 Tottenham: Michael Keane Rescues Point for Toffees
Posted : 16 April 2023
On Monday Night Football, Everton and Tottenham tie 1-1 as both players are sent off. Abdoulaye Doucoure is sent off just before Harry Kane is given a penalty in the second half. Lucas Moura is subsequently sent off as Michael Keane's long-range goal secures the draw.
Michael Keane's late thunderbolt won Everton a 1-1 draw against Tottenham in a dramatic Monday Night Football game that saw both teams get reckless red cards.
Seven minutes before Harry Kane gave the visitors the lead after Keane's foul on Cristian Romero in the area, Abdoulaye Doucoure was dismissed for violent behavior for an unwarranted shove on the Tottenham striker. Everton appeared to have lost all control.
However, minutes before the Everton center-back unleashed a long-range piledriver to salvage a point for the Toffees, Tottenham replacement Lucas Moura was given the boot for a harsh tackle on Keane.
Everton's goal was sufficient to lift them out of the relegation zone and up to 15th place in the standings, while Spurs' point was sufficient to move them into the top four but they lost the opportunity to move up one position.
