Erling Haaland: Winner of the FWA Men's Footballer of the Year award, Chelsea's Sam Kerr wins women prize

The Football Writers' Association (FWA) has selected Erling Haaland as their male footballer of the year for the 2022–23 campaign.
The international player from Norway has had an outstanding first season in England with Manchester City, netting 51 goals in all competitions so far as City strives to complete a historic treble.
The 22-year-old smashed the record for most goals in a Premier League season with 35 goals in only 32 games, with the possibility of four more appearances. He joined the Premier League winners from Borussia Dortmund in a move costing £51 million last summer.
"To win the Football Writers’ award in my first season in English football is an honour," Haaland said.
"I try every single day to be the best I can be, and to be recognised like this means a lot to me."
Because the team is still in the running for the Premier League, Champions League, and FA Cup, Haaland will also be aiming for a treble this year.
With only four games remaining in the Premier League season, City presently leads Arsenal by one point in the standings.
On May 17, Pep Guardiola's team plays Real Madrid in the second leg of their Champions League semifinal. 1-1 resulted in the opening leg.
Sam Kerr of Chelsea is awarded the FWA women's player of the year for the second consecutive year.
The representative of Australia has scored 10 goals in 18 games this season in the WSL, and earlier this month, in England, she recorded her 50th league goal.
Since she joined Chelsea during the 2019–20 season, Kerr has captured three league championships, two FA Cups, and two League Cups.
Chelsea is now attempting to complete the double this year. The FA Cup final between the Blues and Manchester United will take place on Sunday at Wembley in front of a sold-out crowd. The Blues are behind the WSL's top team by one game.
