Erling Haaland Signs Long-Term Deal with Manchester City Until 2034

Erling Haaland has extended his stay at Manchester City by signing a long-term contract that will keep him at the club until 2034. The Norwegian striker, who joined City from Borussia Dortmund in 2022, has already made a significant impact, scoring 111 goals in 126 appearances. His previous contract, which was set to expire in 2027 and included a release clause, has now been replaced with this new deal, ensuring his presence at the Etihad for an extended period.

 

Haaland expressed his delight in committing to Manchester City for the long haul, emphasizing the special nature of the club, the fantastic people, and the environment that helps him perform at his best. He thanked manager Pep Guardiola, his teammates, and the entire club for their support since his arrival. City’s director of football, Txiki Begiristain, highlighted the significance of Haaland’s new contract as a reflection of the club’s commitment to the player and his affection for the team.

 

The renewal of Haaland's contract follows closely after Pep Guardiola also signed a two-year extension with City. Haaland's contract, lasting nine and a half years, is the longest in Premier League history, surpassing Cole Palmer’s nine-year deal with Chelsea. Since joining Manchester City, Haaland has helped the club win multiple titles, including two Premier League trophies, the FA Cup, the Champions League, and the Super Cup.

 

This contract extension comes amid a challenging season for City, as they sit 12 points behind Premier League leaders Liverpool. Haaland has continued his goal-scoring form, netting 21 goals in 28 matches this season. As Manchester City awaits the outcome of their disciplinary case with the Premier League, which could result in significant sanctions, Haaland’s future with the club remains secure, and his presence will continue to be vital for their ambitions.
