In spite of being forced to a 1-1 stalemate by the visiting Al Masry, Enyimba International FC Head Coach, Stanley Eguma, has kept hope alive for his side's qualification from the group stage to the next round of the 2024/2025 CAF Confederation Cup.
Recall that Enyimba were held to a 1-1 draw by Al Masry in the CAF Confederation Cup Group D encounter in Uyo. Eguma stated that it is not over yet for the People's Elephant.
He said:
"It was really unfortunate that we couldn't win the game. We trained very hard and mapped out strategies to beat the opponents. Unfortunately, they came to play the game of their lives.
"Our players respected them too much, especially in the first half; we were lethargic in our approach, and that caused the early goal we conceded. That goal demoralized us significantly, and most of these players have not played at this level before.
"It's not the end of the road. We still have the next game to play. If Al Masry can come here and play the game of their lives, we can go to Egypt, and who knows what the outcome of the other games will be. We are still optimistic; it is not over until it is over."
Enyimba and Black Bulls will face Zamalek and Al Masry, respectively, in their final group games.
