England, France, and the Netherlands secured their places in the Euro 2024 knockout stages after Albania's 1-0 loss to Spain on Monday confirmed their advancement. Despite not playing, the trio's four points from their first two group matches ensure they cannot finish below the third-place teams that progress to the next round.
In Group C, England started with a narrow win against Serbia and followed with a draw against Denmark. Meanwhile, France and the Netherlands both won their opening fixtures and then played out a goalless draw against each other. These results solidified their positions in the tournament's next phase.
Spain, already assured of a spot in the last 16, took the lead against Albania with Ferran Torres scoring a superb low shot after Dani Olmo's pass in the 13th minute. Throughout the match, Spain dominated possession and had several near misses from Torres, Mikel Merino, and Joselu, while Albania fought hard but ultimately fell short.
Albania's elimination from the competition marks the end of their Euro 2024 journey, whereas Spain advances as the top team in Group B, setting their sights on further progress in the tournament.
