2024/2025 NPFL Match Day 18: Edo Sports Commission Chairman, Enabulele, pumps Bendel Insurance ahead of weekend clash with Lobi Stars

The Executive Chairman of the Edo State Sports Commission, Desmond Enabulele Amadin, has assured Bendel Insurance Football Club of improved welfare and standards. He also urged the team to develop a winning mentality and to welcome him and his new board members with a convincing victory over Lobi Stars in Saturday's Nigeria Premier Football League match in Benin.

The Edo Sports Commission chairman made these assurances during his familiarization visit to the Benin Arsenals at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, as the team finalized their preparation for the Match Day 18 fixture.

He promised that the welfare of the players and officials will be prioritized.

Enabulele revealed that the mandate given to the board by the Executive Governor of the State, His Excellency Senator Monday Okpebholo, was to make the Edo State sports industry more productive and viable, adding that the State Government is committed to taking Edo State sports to new heights.

"I’m aware that some of your bonuses and allowances have not been paid, and I’ve been briefed about it," Enabulele said. "I was told you have not been compensated after winning the 2023 Federation Cup. I want to assure you that you will be paid in full as soon as the accountants are cleared. The funds are available, and the temporary delay, as you are aware, is due to the political transition. We expect the state governor to lift the embargo in a few days."

"We just resumed work yesterday, and we felt it was important to meet with you today to let you know that we are here to make a difference."

"The State Governor, distinguished Senator Monday Okpebholo, is a sports-loving governor. He has given us the mandate to raise the level of development. So, expect better days ahead," he added.

"I want to appeal to you for cooperation so that we can succeed. My board members are seasoned sports professionals who are ready to bring their experiences and expertise to the table."

"I love sports, and I used to look for someone to take me to Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium to watch Bendel Insurance. I grew up around this stadium. I can see some familiar faces here, and I am a young man like you. I believe we can work together to achieve the greatness we want."

"We have been given a mandate, and that mandate is to take Edo State Sports to the top. We can only achieve this through collaboration and teamwork."

"Let it begin with the match against Lobi Stars on Saturday. Deliver to make us proud, and we are here to make you happy."

"I don’t want to announce what I plan to give you after the victory, but rest assured that something very good is coming your way," Enabulele said.

Also speaking, Hon. Frank Ilaboya (Edo North Representative), Barrister Anthony Odianosen Ikuenobe (Edo Central Representative), and Baldwin Bazuaye, MON (Edo South Representative) on the board, advised the players to prove themselves on the field and promote their careers in football.

Baldwin Bazuaye urged the players to view playing for Bendel Insurance as an opportunity for personal growth and development into world-class athletes, rather than seeing it as merely serving others.

In response, Captain Efe Enabulele, Head Coach Greg Ikhenoba, and Club Secretary Charles Ihimekpen thanked the Executive Chairman for his show of support, assuring that Bendel Insurance would not disappoint the new board chairman and the State.
