Empoli Appoints Roberto D'Aversa as New Head Coach

Empoli became the 13th Serie A club to appoint a new coach for the upcoming season, announcing Roberto D'Aversa's arrival on Tuesday. The Italian manager, who was previously dismissed by Lecce in March for headbutting an opposing player, takes charge of Empoli after the team finished 17th out of 20 last season.

 

D'Aversa, 48, brings experience from his previous managerial roles at Sampdoria and Parma. As a former player, he came through AC Milan's youth academy. Empoli confirmed the appointment, stating that D'Aversa has signed a contract extending until June 30, 2026.

 

This coaching change follows a trend among Serie A clubs this summer, with other teams like Milan, Juventus, and Napoli also bringing in new managers. The new Serie A season is set to kick off on the weekend of August 17-18.
