El-Kanemi gets assurance of adequate support from Borno govt.

Hon. Idris Kemdy, Senior Special Assistant to Gov. Babagana Zulum of Borno State on Youths and Sports, has promised that the state government would give El-Kanemi Warriors all the support needed in their next continental campaign.


Kemdy gave the assurance in an interview about the expectations from the government to fund the 2024 President Federation Cup winners, El-Kanemi of Maiduguri.


ASN reports that El-Kanemi won the 2024 President Federation Cup after a 2-0 win over Abia Warriors, which qualified them to play in the 2024/2025 CAF Confederation Cup.


Kemdy said that Gov. Zulum has promised to give adequate support to the cup winners in their continental campaign, adding that the team would not lack anything.


"It is exciting that we are able to win this 2024 President Federation Cup after many years, all thanks to our dynamic Governor Zulum who has been supporting the team.


"Our Governor has promised more support to the sport because he is a dedicated leader.


"Gov. Zulum, in his absence, directed Deputy Governor Umar Kadafur to oversee the good performance of our club, El-Kanemi Warriors, and that is why everything went well.


"The Governor is giving his full support to El-Kanemi Warriors so that they can do well in the continent, playing in the CAF Confederation Cup," he said.


Kemdy added that although it could be difficult during the campaign, he expected the team to do well.


"Playing in the continent may be a bit difficult, considering the experience of other teams, but we want to correct our mistakes.


"We will carefully study the situation and come up with the best approach to ensure that El-Kanemi performs better in the continental campaign.


"The Governor has promised his full financial and moral support to El-Kanemi for their campaign in the NPFL, to defend their FA Cup, and in the CAF Confederation," he said.
