Chidera Ejuke played a decisive role in Sevilla’s narrow 1-0 triumph over Real Sociedad at the Reale Arena on Sunday night, securing an important victory for his team.
Making his first start in La Liga in 140 days, the Nigerian winger broke the deadlock early in the second half after a tightly contested opening period.
Ejuke calmly slotted the ball into the bottom right corner after receiving an accurate pass from Saúl Ñíguez inside the penalty area.
This goal brought his tally to two goals and one assist in 17 league appearances this season, highlighting his contributions despite limited playing time.
His progress was disrupted by a hamstring injury suffered in October 2024 during Sevilla’s 5-1 defeat to Barcelona, which sidelined him for several weeks.
He missed nine league matches before making his comeback in a 2-1 victory over Girona in January 2025 but found it difficult to reclaim a regular starting role.
With this performance, Ejuke hopes to convince his coach and earn more opportunities, especially as he prepares for Nigeria’s upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers under new Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle.
