Edo Queens whitewashes Fortress Ladies FC 8-0 to retain Edo FA Cup

The Defending Champions of the women Edo FA Cup, Edo Queens Football Club of Benin, has retained the Edo FA Cup after whitewashing Fortress Ladies 8-0 at the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium.

Africa Sport Network (ASN) reports that Edo Queens have now been crowned Edo champions of the 2023 FA cup glory for a record of eight times.

The premier league Queens, expectedly lived up to the expectations against their amateur opponent, Fortress Ladies who could not pose any threat to the defending champions.

Bashiru Kafayat opened scoring for Edo Queens in the 13th minute of play. Yemisi Samuel scored a hattrick 17, 22, 40 minutes before Kafayat Bashiru got a brace to make 5-0 before half time.

At the second half, Alice Okebe increased the tally for Edo Queens in the 47th minutes, while Sulehat Aberdeen later scored twice 68 and 77minutes to complete the routes.

The Nigerian Women Football League NWFL Group B leaders Edo Queens and Fortress Ladies will be representing Edo state at the national level of the Federation cup.

Meanwhile, Edo Queens are getting ready for Week 10 of the NWFL tie against Confluence Queens FC of Lokoja who will be hosting the Red- hot Benin ladies next week Wednesday, March 22, at the Confluence Stadium Lokoja, Kogi State.
