Edo Queens' mercurial midfielder, Amarachi Odoma Cordelia, said that if her team remains concentrated, they will reclaim the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) title.
Amarachi Odoma made this statement as her team put up five-star performances in their defense of the league crown they won last year.
Recall that Edo Queens began their title defense with a resounding 5-0 victory over Abia Angels in the season opener of the 2024/25 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL).
The defending champions were ruthless, with goals from Miracle Usani, Emem Essien, Goodness Osigwe, Loveth Edet, and Kafayat Mafisere respectively completing the rout over the Umuahia-based side.
When asked if the resounding victory would serve as a confidence boost for the team, Odoma noted that it was a step in that direction, emphasizing that the league had just started, with many challenges ahead.
"Well, it is a step in that direction because the league has just started, and there will be a lot of challenges," she said.
She reiterated that, with full concentration, the title could be reclaimed, saying that national call-ups and other distractions cannot derail their ambitions to win the title back.
"I mean, national call-ups and other distractions may come in, but if we concentrate and stay focused, I believe we will reclaim the title," she said.
Amarachi Odoma, however, expressed her delight and pride in being part of the team.
"I am very happy and proud to be part of this great team," she said.
Edo Queens will be aiming to continue their impressive form into the season in the upcoming fixtures of the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL).
