Edo Queens' talented midfielder, Amarachi Odoma, has expressed her delight at making her debut for Nigeria's senior women’s national team, the Super Falcons, in a friendly match against Algeria.
Odoma, who celebrated her birthday on the day of the match, came on as a second-half substitute in the game played at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne, Ogun State, which ended in a 2-0 victory for the West African side over the weekend.
"I am very delighted and humbled to make my debut for the Super Falcons; it’s an incredible honor and a dream come true.
"Celebrating my birthday on the same day makes it even more special. It's a testament to hard work, commitment, and dedication, and I'm so grateful to the coach for giving me this debut opportunity."
Captain Rasheedat Ajibade scored a goal in each half of the match, leading the hosts to victory.
Odoma was an integral part of Edo Queens, who won the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) in the 2023/24 season.
She also played a key role when Edo Queens emerged as champions in the WAFU B CAF Women's Champions League qualifiers held in Ivory Coast in August 2024.
Amarachi Odoma will be aiming to make her second appearance when the Super Falcons face Algeria in the second leg of the match at Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos on Tuesday, October 29, 2024.
