In keeping with the Edo state government's innovative and administrative policy for digital and paperless operations, the Edo Football Association (EFA) has made a giant step towards revolutionizing football administration in the state by launching new software for data management.
According to the EFA, the software is designed to make football administration seamless and paperless.
Kennedy Ugbodaga of the EFA Media Department revealed that the board led by Fred Erhunmwunse is committed to bringing innovation that will put Edo FA on a pedestal that other states will emulate.
He explained further that the software was designed to address issues of poaching of players and misunderstandings among grassroots clubs affiliated with Edo FA, as well as to make the registration of clubs, players, and their identity easy and accessible.
The launch of the EFA Software was conducted during the state football league draws ceremony held at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City.
The ceremony attracted members of the Edo State FA board led by the chairman, Mr. Fred Newton Erhunmwunse, representatives of the 28 registered clubs expected to participate in the state league, and various football stakeholders in the state.
Declaring the event open, the Chairman of the FA, Fred Newton Erhunmwunse, thanked the Edo State football family for the support given to him and the members of the FA board so far, stressing that the Edo State Football Association under his leadership would continue to focus on laudable programs that will be beneficial to the youths and clubs in Edo State.
"First and foremost, I want to appreciate every football stakeholder in Edo State for making this unique program a huge success, particularly Royal MVP International Consult for partnering with Edo State FA.
"We want to make progress in Edo State. We want to see players in Edo make waves; we want to market players; we want them to be breadwinners of their various families, and we want to change the face of football in Edo State.
"You can see that we are going digital in Edo State FA. We just unveiled a website for the association for the database of all Edo State clubs that are affiliated with us.
"This is to enable easy access to the database of players. We are very happy with this innovation and we will continue to embark on projects that will better the lives of our young players in Edo State.
"We are highly committed to promoting our local players to ensure they excel in their football careers," Erhunmwunse assured.
Meanwhile, the Sports Director of Royal MVP International Consult, Pastor Moses Vasillis, said that Royal MVP International was delighted to partner with Edo State FA, stating that the company is totally committed to boosting sports in Edo via youth empowerment.
Pastor Moses made the commitment while delivering a paper during a seminar preceding the EFA Software launch and state league draws ceremony.
With the theme 'Empowering the Edo Youth Via Football,' Pastor Moses said that his organization's partnership with Edo FA on football development in the state will be a win-win for all parties involved, with an assurance that the partnership will open a new frontier for Edo state, which is already blessed with raw talents, grassroots football clubs, and players.
He emphasized that marketing raw football talents with visible gains is achievable in Edo State.
"As the home of football, what we are doing as partners is to see how we can revamp the system of football administration here to take its rightful position in the comity of states in Nigeria.
"It is very important that this partnership is coming at this time when we have a vibrant FA board that is ready to change the face of football in Edo. It is about the discovery of new football stars that have the capacity to turn things around. We are working towards raising stars that will represent us at local, continental, and international competitions.
"Again, we are already working towards organizing football scout competitions where foreign scouts will come, with national coaches and other international experts in football who will give talks on football and youth development as well as marketing.
"We have some notable football academies that we are partnering with in Europe to foster football development in Edo State."
Meanwhile, the state football league is expected to commence soon as draws have been held with a total of 28 football clubs across the state who registered for the league.
