Edo FA Cup: Its All-Insurance affairs for the finals

There will be a place for history as the 2023 Edo State FA Cup final is set to witness a landmark match between a single team playing against each other, Bendel Insurance FC.

For the Edo FA finals, high flying table toppers of the abridged Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), Bendel Insurance will face its Feeder team that qualified after they knocked out Rolly FC to set up all Insurance finals.

Bendel Insurance Feeders team, had defeated Nigeria League NLO1 side Rolly FC 4-2 in a shootout that followed a goalless draw.

The Benin Arsenals were also runners up to the senior team who emerged champions in the 2022 Edo FA cup after beating Eagle Wings 5-4 on penalty after a goalless draw.

The Insurance Feeders who just qualied for the Federation (Aiteo cup) with their victory over Rolly FC will be playing in the NLO 2 this season.

Meanwhile, Bendel Insurance senior team had earlier defeated Eagle Wings FC 1-0 to secure the finals ticket in the 2023 Edo FA Federation cup competition.

The Benin Arsenals goal poacher Imade Osarenkhoe came from the bench to change the complexion of the game and subsequently delivered the desired result for his side in the 77th minute of the tight game.

The Benin Arsenals manager, Monday Odigie started the defense of the 2023 Edo FA Cup he won last season with the second string of his team, allowing the regulars including Imade Osarenkhoe, Austin Ogunye, Deputy Echeta, Stephens Sodje, Ebuka Akobundu and Emiloju and others to rest until the second half of the Semi-finals match.

Bendel Insurance Buchi Wehere secured a penalty for his team after he was tripped in the box by Eagle Wings defender which the center referee spotted immediately before substitute Osarenkhoe stepped forward to convert it to win the game for Insurance FC.

The all-Insurance FA cup final match is scheduled to hold on Wednesday, March 15, at the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium, Benin city.
