Eden Hazard has made light of his injury-plagued time at Real Madrid, jokingly stating that he has been "resting for three years." However, he has dismissed any thoughts of retiring from football altogether after recently retiring from the Belgium national team.
The 32-year-old forward left Real Madrid this month after mutually agreeing to terminate his contract a year early. Having retired from international football following the 2022 World Cup, Hazard was honored by Belgium players, staff, and fans during their European Championship 2024 qualifying match against Austria.
Hazard expressed confidence in his ability to continue playing professionally, stating that his body is capable of handling it. Despite his struggles with injuries, he believes he still has energy left. Last season, he had limited game time at Real Madrid, making only six appearances in LaLiga, two of which were starts, and failing to score a goal.
Regarding his future, Hazard admitted to being uncertain and mentioned his desire to spend time with his family and go on holiday after a challenging period.
He expressed frustration at not being able to contribute on the pitch and mentioned that he had read various rumors and speculation about his next move.
However, he stated that he still doesn't have any concrete plans and will wait to see what the future holds.
