2024/2025 NPFL Match Day 26: Downpour forces abandonment of Rivers United clash against Katsina United FC

The 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Match Day 26 duel between Rivers United and Katsina United was called off on Thursday due to a downpour that rendered the pitch unplayable at halftime.  


The match, played at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt, saw the Pride of Rivers leading 1-0, courtesy of a 17th-minute goal by Ubong Friday.  


The conclusion of the match is expected to take place on Friday.  


Before the disruption, Rivers United had climbed from fifth to second place, level on 42 points with Shooting Stars but ahead on goal difference.  


In another match, Bendel Insurance defeated Ikorodu City 2-1 in Benin on Thursday night. Stanley Okorom put the home side ahead in the 52nd minute, but Shola Adelani equalized for Ikorodu City two minutes later.  


Uche Collins secured the winner for Bendel Insurance in the 69th minute. With 35 points, Bendel Insurance now sits 11th on the log, while Ikorodu City is seventh with 38 points.
