Through a statement on their official website, Championship club Bristol City have announced the signing of dual-national striker Sinclair Armstrong, who joins from Queens Park Rangers.
The 21-year-old has signed a four-year contract that will keep him at Ashton Gate until the summer of 2028.
Born in Dublin, Armstrong has made his competitive debut for the Republic of Ireland but is still eligible to play for Nigeria, as he was an U21 player when he appeared as a substitute in a European Championship qualifier against the Netherlands last September.
He has committed his international future to Ireland over Nigeria, the three-time African champions.
In quotes reported by the Irish Examiner a year ago, Armstrong stated: "I feel completely Irish. I was born here and it's the only country I've played for. I've only been to Nigeria once in my life, so I'm happy with Ireland."
Armstrong began his career in the Republic of Ireland before moving to England to join Queens Park Rangers in 2020, initially playing with their U18 squad.
Overall, the Republic of Ireland U21 international appeared in 64 matches for QPR, scoring four goals and providing four assists. In search of first-team opportunities, he was loaned out to non-league clubs Torquay United and Aldershot Town during the 2021-2022 season.
Armstrong aims to make his competitive debut for Bristol City in their first official game of the 2024-25 season against Hull City on August 10, 2024.
