The anticipation is high as Liberia's U17 girls prepare to host the formidable Flamingos of Nigeria at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Stadium in Monrovia on Sunday, June 9th, marking the first leg of their FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup African qualification series final fixture. With kickoff scheduled for 4pm local time in Liberia (5pm in Nigeria), fans eagerly await the clash between these two talented teams.

Under the guidance of coach Bankole Olowookere, Liberia's young squad has shown impressive form throughout the qualification campaign. They secured their spot in the fourth and final qualifying round with a commanding 12-0 victory over their counterparts from the Central African Republic. This momentum continued as they defeated Burkina Faso’s U17 girls 7-1 on aggregate in the subsequent round.

However, it was in the third round where the Liberian girls truly made waves. Despite facing tough opposition from Senegal, they managed to advance on the away goal rule after a thrilling 2-0 win in Monrovia in the second leg. This victory came as a surprise to many, especially after Senegal had secured a 3-1 win in Dakar, seemingly putting them in control of the tie.

As the first leg unfolds in Monrovia, all eyes will be on the Flamingos of Nigeria, who boast an impressive track record in youth women's football. With their sights set on securing a spot in the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup finals, the Nigerian team will undoubtedly bring their A-game to the encounter.

Following the Monrovia fixture, the Flamingos will host the return leg at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abuja on Friday, June 14th, with the match kicking off at 4pm local time. This return leg will be crucial in determining which team emerges victorious on aggregate and earns the coveted opportunity to represent Africa at the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup finals in the Dominican Republic.

Alongside this highly anticipated clash, other African nations are also vying for qualification, with Burundi facing Kenya and Zambia taking on Morocco in their respective fixtures. The intensity of the competition reflects the determination and talent present across the continent, making each match a spectacle for fans and players alike.
